Strategy Design Pattern Lab
This lab will have you looking at two different approaches to teaching the Strategy Design Pattern: one uses a text-based tutorial, and the other uses a multimedia video presentation. In this lab, you will look at both different approaches and answer a few questions comparing the two. It should take about 30 minutes to an hour, hopefully closer to 30 minutes. Enjoy!
Here are the parts of the exercise:
- Click here to open the survey for this lab. You'll be filling in answers as you go.
- Make sure to download the code here. You'll need it to answer the exercise later.
- Here's the deal: we want to get data both from people who watch the movie first, as well as from people who read the tutorial first. If your last name starts with the letters A-F, please watch the video first, then check out the text tutorial afterward. If your last name starts with G-Z, please do these two things in the opposite order. Note: If you are watching the video first, make sure to check out the next item on the list once you are prompted for the question.
Here are the links to the video (It's in QuickTime format. If you don't have Quicktime, get it here) and the tutorial.
- Answer the first four questions in the survey after the first activity (i.e. video for A-F, tutorial for G-Z). The video will prompt for the second question on the survey, the tutorial does not. If you're watching the video, answer the question when prompted, with the tutorial, you can just wait until you've finished. Don't worry about the final question mentioned in the video...unless you want to.
- Complete the second part of the activity (tutorial for A-F, tutorial for G-Z). The material should be familiar. After you're done, answer the final questions on the quiz.
- Include some feedback in the comments section if you'd like. Please include your name so that you can get credit for the assignment.
- Submit it and you're done. It's that easy.
Thanks very much for your participation.
