From bjsmith@csc.calpoly.edu Wed Apr 16 10:10:42 2003 Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2003 10:01:01 -0700 From: Byron Smith To: CSCFaculty@csc.calpoly.edu Subject: JCreator Configurations & CSL2K FAQ & Reporting Lab Problems Due to frequent questions I've received, I've compiled instructions on how to configure JCreator for the different J2SDK versions. There is also an explanation for the 'missing harddrive1\DR1' error that pops up on our computers with Zip drives. Both documents are Acrobat Reader .pdf format and can be found on the FAQ page for my CSL2K Domain Support web. The CSL2K Home page is: http://fortran.csl2k.local/default.htm The JCreator configuration information can be found at: http://fortran.csl2k.local/faq.htm#faq6 The 'missing harddrive1\DR1' information can be found at: http://fortran.csl2k.local/faq.htm#faq7 To Report PROBLEMS WITH COMPUTERS in the labs: Open Internet Explorer. You must be logged onto the CSL2K Domain for this to work, otherwise use the next URL. Click 'Favorites' then click 'CSC Department Lab Support' Fill out the data and click the 'Submit...' button. You can also get to the problem reporting page with: http://fortran.csl2k.local/support.htm Recommend using Internet Explorer and not Netscape, or some of the pages will not display properly. Also, try it from the lab if you don't have IE 6 installed. For those who cannot reach the CSL2K domain from their office computers, it's due to the network settings which I can reconfigure to work, if you want me to do so. (Let me know.) You might also try to replace the 'csl2k.local' portion of the URL with 'csc.calpoly.edu' which should work on campus. Thanks Byron P.S. For the curious, csl2k.local points to the Windows DNS server, Algol.csc.calpoly.edu while csc.calpoly.edu USUALLY points to the CSC DNS server, cslsrv.csc.calpoly.edu! The csl2k.local DNS relieves the load on our aging HP DNS server ;-} and keeps a better reference for the local domain machines and services (Windows print service, file sharing, etc.).
