Project 1 Milestone 1
Project 1 Overview
The goal of project 1 is to create a novel Android app using App Inventor. You are to work with one partner. Since
one section has an odd number of students, one team can have three people, or one person can work alone.
Process
We will brainstorm ideas and form teams in class.
You will then work with your partner to develop the app following a typical software development process.
The project will have two milestones. Requirements and design are to be completed in this first milestone.
Code, test, and deploy will be completed in a second milestone.
You should complete all work on the project together with your partner.
Remember that working alone on a partner project is cheating.
So, be sure to exchange contact information and find common times that you can work together.
Because of the nature of App Inventor, you are encouraged to choose one student account as the "master" version of the project.
Frequently (at least every day that you work on it) download the project to your computer and share it (email?) with your partner.
Deliverables
- Place the following artifacts on the Project 1 page of your e-portfolio.
- Vision and Scope: a couple of paragraphs overviewing what your app will do, who would use it, and what your app won't do
- Feature List: a bulleted list of features that your app will provide
- Low-Fidelity Prototype: a mockup of all screens in your app created in something like paint
- List of App Inventor Components to be used: a bulleted list, choose from this list
- Prepare a three to five minute presentation to be given in class on the due date. Think of this as a pitch to investors. Your job is to convince us that this will be a great app.
You are not to prepare slides. Do show your e-portfolio Project 1 page, but do not just read it or walk through it. Be sure your Project 1 page on your portfolio is readable
with the projector. Avoid things like colored text on dark backgrounds. Practice your presentation. You should be able to talk through your idea, without reading what is on the screen.
All team members must talk.
