Vision and Scope
You should create a one to two page document that captures the vision and scope
of the project you propose to complete in this course. Include the following:
- Names of all participants
- Name of customer if appropriate
- Project Title
- Project Vision
- The vision attempts to capture the reason for doing this system.
- For example, this system will improve xyz by doing abc.
- Project Scope
- The scope attempts to capture the high-level features expected in the
proposed system, along with the system boundaries. What is and is not
a part of this system?
- It may be appropriate to also reference the tools and technologies
that you plan to use in the system.
- Software Process
- What software process will you be following?
- Be specific. List how you will be applying this process.
- Software Practices
- What software practices will you be applying? (this relates to your software process)
- How will you demonstrate that you have actually done these practices?
- Work Distribution
- If you are working with others, who is doing what?
- Likely Schedule
- Give a high-level schedule of when you plan to do what. This should fit with your software process selection.
You might see this sample Vision and Scope document for reference.
Note that your document does not need to be this long or detailed, nor must it follow
this as a template.
