My current interest is in distributed computing. I teach in the areas of operating systems, communication networks, as well as operations research. I am currently involved in projects in the distributed computing laboratory. We use LINUX in the operating systems class as a means of studying operating system implementation. The OS laboratory consists of 20 HP x86 dual boot ( NT and Linux) connected via ethernet and TCP/IP. Students use the laboratory to study the code involved in carrying out the functionality of an OS and to modify the Kernel. Various hardware and software tools analyze network traffic and protocols as well. We are working with PVM, Parallel Virtual Machine, a source level software product, to do experiments in distributed computation.
