The material for these courses will be made available over the duration of the course, so initially some links may not work.
Some material is also available from recent courses (Fall 2009 and older).
You can view my Cal Poly Zimbra calendar. It is usually reasonably up to date, and contains information like furlough days.
In general, my areas of interest are Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management, User-Centered Design, and Human-Computer Interaction. For examples of topics, see the list of current and past Senior projects (see Josh Eastburn's project for an example of a very good proposal and overall documentation). The senior project requires enrollment in two courses (CSC 491/2 or CPE 461/2), which are usually taken in two successive quarters. Ideally, you should investigate possible topics in the quarter before you enroll in your first senior project course. In order to enroll, you need to write up a proposal, and submit this together with an enrollment form to the department; they will then give you the permission number and section. You can find relevant information on the CSC Department pages for Senior Projects.
For examples of topics, see the list of current and past Master's theses. You can also find the final versions of resent theses at the Cal Poly Digital Commons.
Follow the link to a description of the requirements, and list of possible topics for your Master's thesis. The department Web site has some information and forms, in particular the thesis approval form required for enrollment.
And here is a document with a collection of writing hints.
Interested in spending some time abroad? Check out opportunities for exchange programs and internships, mainly in Europe.
I am in contact with people at the universities of Bremen and Ulm for Summer 2010 internship opportunities. If you're interested, contact me, the earlier the better. Chris Clark also may have some opportunities with collaborators in Malta and Norway.
PDF files of some of my publications are available at the Cal Poly Digital Commons, a repository maintained by the Cal Poly Library and hosted by The Berkeley Electronic Press.
