Stage III: Operating the Knowledge Organization
This stage involves the wide-scale deployment of the KM Architecture. Companies at this stage go beyond initial, small-scale pilots into an operational and continually evolving knowledge management infrastructure. This stages addresses:
- Company-wide deployment of knowledge processes, roles and systems
- Development of additional pilots
- Full-scale development of knowledge support services within the organisation, e.g.
- Implementation of organisational infrastructure (knowledge analysts, knowledge editors, etc)
- KM-related cultural changes
- Facilitation of the establishment of knowledge networks (e.g. communities of practice)
- Large-scale integration of KM tools with legacy IT systems
- Continuous "knowledge journey"
