Evaluation of Web Pages |
Tuesday, April 20, 1999 |
|
Your task in this homework is to evaluate the Web pages prepared
this semesters.
The topic for which I want you to evaluate the Web pages
is indicated on this shee.
The idea behind the Web pages is to provide additional material
to students taking this class in order to help them understand
the important concepts of Operating Systems better.
What I want from you now is some feedback on how well this
additional material is prepared, and how useful it is for you.
Each student will evaluate a different set of Web pages,
which can be found at the following URL:
http://www.cs.njit.edu/~web332/
Go to your specific topic by selecting the corresponding link
at the top of the page.
Below I'm giving you some guidelines for the evaluation, but feel
free to add other aspects that you feel are important or
interesting.
There is also one section that refers
to the overall collection of Web pages for this class,
not only to your specific topic.
Use extra sheets if necessary, or download this file and
enter your responses in the file.
Specific Topic
Content
- Background:
Is there information on the background, e.g. why this topic is important, how it evolved, how it relates to others?
- Essentials:
Are the most important aspects of the topic covered?
- Perspectives:
Is the topic approached from different view points, e.g. hardware designer, OS developer, system administrator, programmer, user?
- Explanation:
Is there a good explanation of the important aspects?
- Student Activities:
Are there some suggestions for students to practice what they have learned, e.g. review questions, quizzes?
Format
- Adherence to Design Guidelines:
Is the overall appearance of the pages for this topic consistent with the rest of the pages?
- Navigation:
How easy is it to move around within the pages of the topic, and to other topics?
- Uniform Appearance within the Topic:
Is the design of the pages for this topic consistent, or is it obvious that they have been put together by different authors via copy and paste?
Bibliography
- List of References:
Is there a useful list of further sources of information at the end of the topic? Are the individual entries complete and correct?
- References in the Text (Anchors):
Are the respective references indicated in the text at the point where the respective material is discussed?
Originality
Do you have the impression that the text and diagrams were produced
by the students, or does some of it seem to be copied literally
or with minor modifications from other sources (e.g. the text book,
Web pages)?
Overall CIS 332 Web Pages
Usefulness:
Is the overall collection of Web pages useful in your opinion? (No penalty if you say no, but please explain!)
Overall Design:
How did you like the overall design?
Navigation of the Whole Set of Pages:
How easy is it to switch between the pages and move from one topic to another?
Suggestions for Improvements:
