Performance Evaluation of Distributed GIS Strohman, Rollin; CAGR-BioRes & Ag Engineering
The performance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) depends to a substantial degree on the coordination of the interaction between the different components of such a system (storage subsystem, GIS server, GIS client). While high-bandwidth infrastructure is necessary to achieve good performance, it may not be sufficient. The task in this project is to investigate the setup of such systems, analyse their performance (especially with respect to bottlenecks), and identify aspects that are critical for good performance.
