Stage III: Operating the Knowledge Organization

This stage involves the wide-scale deployment of the KM Architecture. Companies at this stage go beyond initial, small-scale pilots into an operational and continually evolving knowledge management infrastructure. This stages addresses:
  • Company-wide deployment of knowledge processes, roles and systems
  • Development of additional pilots
  • Full-scale development of knowledge support services within the organisation, e.g.
    • Implementation of organisational infrastructure (knowledge analysts, knowledge editors, etc)
    • KM-related cultural changes
    • Facilitation of the establishment of knowledge networks (e.g. communities of practice)
    • Large-scale integration of KM tools with legacy IT systems
  • Continuous "knowledge journey"
