University Timetabling is an open source program that is platform independent. It is used by Purdue University as it's primary scheduling tool. It is all done through a web interface.

Good Features:

• can specify technology rooms AKA "smart" rooms
• can specify different types of quarters (Fall, Winter, Spring vs. Summer)
• preferences of time slots
• time pattern allows for easy creation of class blocks
• automatically enrolls students based priorities

Bad Features:

• Run through a web interface. Can be a security issue.
• Looks like an old interface. Not very pretty.

Missing Features:

• No desktop application
