1.5.3 CyberMatrix Software
CyberMatrix is a scheduling software that permits interaction from different users.
Overall, CyberMatrix has some benefits in regards to permitting multiple perspectives. However, there is significant overhead time, the user interface is depricated and unintuitive, it does not have a web component, and it is only available on Windows machines.
Good Features:
-
The schedule can be viewed from multiple perspectives - student, professor, and classroom
-
Permits entry of prerequisites
-
Allows data entry using csv, which can save time, especially when schedule memory is not available
Bad Features:
-
The product helps when scheduling students in pre existing classes, not when scheduling the classes themselves; implying the process requires a significant amount of manual testing
-
Unintuitive user interface with cluttered data manager and complex data entry process
-
Separate user interface for each variable - class, buildings, attendance, etc. - making for a steeper learning curve for the administrator entering in the data
-
User interface looks deprecated - similar to early 2000s visual appeal
-
Requires downloading as separate application
Missing Features:
-
Application is only available on Windows, limiting the user base
-
No data memory from previous quarters, requiring heavy upfront data entry every quarter
-
No cloud storage, making the burden of scheduling the admin instead of entry
-
Does not auto generate schedules using a scheduling algorithm
-
Does not allow teacher scheduling preferences
