1.2. System Personnel

The people involved with the Scheduler system and its development are:

  1. System and end users
    1. Primary schedule creator
    2. Professors
    3. Students
  2. Project managers
    1. Hexagon Team
  3. System developers
    1. Hexagon Team
  4. Customers
    1. Cal Poly Computer Science Department

Scheduler is used by three different groups of end users: administration, professors, and students. The administration (currently Michael Haungs) uses Scheduler with the purpose of creating the final schedule based on past schedules, professor preferences, and student input. The professors use Scheduler for two different purposes. First, professors use the tool to enter in their personal preferences, which include time preferences, ranking of qualification/desire to teach each course, and the number of courses that they wish to teach for the quarter. The professors' second use is to view the final schedule and the courses they are teaching. The students use the tool primarily for viewing the schedule to plan for future quarters and to give input on the scheduling process.

The main customer of Scheduler is Gene Fisher who represents the wants and needs of the Cal Poly Computer Science Department in regards to this scheduling tool. Therefore the Computer Science Department is an indirect customer.

The project managers and system developers of Scheduler are the team members of Hexagon under the guidance of Gene Fisher throughout the two quarters of development. Hexagon includes six Cal Poly Computer Science students: Nupur Garg, Esha Joshi, Myra Lukens, Auberon Lopez, and Katelyn Hicks.
