1.5.6 Cal Poly Schedules
Cal Poly Schedules is the current way that students are able to view the courses offered in future quarters.
While Cal Poly Schedules does not create schedules, it offers a benchmark and starting point for the list view of the UI.
Good Features:
-
Preferred example of list view
-
Information about courses easy to understand
-
Provides complete list of information about schedule that we would want to include in our scheduler
-
Filter by professor
-
Filter by classroom
-
Filter by course
-
Includes professors' Cal Poly alias (small detail, but useful)
Bad Features:
-
Sorted only by last name -- want to be able to sort by course, time, ect.
-
There are blank courses included in the list -- these should not be shown if the course is not being offered for this schedule
-
Looks too much like an excel spreadsheet. Want to improve the user interface to be more aesthetically pleasing.
-
No way to narrow down list unless you want one specific course, professor, or room. Want to be able to filter to only CSC courses or only courses offered during a certain time frame.
-
Unclear meaning behind colored rows (white, pink, blue)
Missing Features:
-
Does not have functionality of performing the algorithm for scheduling (only a viewer)
-
No calendar view of the schedule
-
Not able to make a mock schedule
