1.5.1. Blackboard Learn
Blackboard Learn is a common testing tool used among universities. It has a wide set
of features for testing. Blackboard Learn is fully supported and upgraded regularly.
New features are rolled out often.
Blackboard Learn is constantly upgraded and hosts a multitude of tools. The Content Editor
is quite powerful, as well as the Test Deployment and Design. Blackboard Learn
fails to provide an effective display for code or the ability to submit code for grading.
It also doesn't have an automatic test generator.
Good Features:

covers the basics fine

provides great test deployment and design

allows password protected tests

inline assignment grading allows for pinpoint markup

provides good functionality for viewing of grades, as well as class' performance as a whole

Content Editor provides great functionality for embedding video, images, and symbolic equations into questions

overall it's broad and powerful with many specific tools
Bad Features:

calculated formula gets many answers wrong

does not allow for deep tweaking of tools, only very limited surface functionality

Can't select multiple items at once. Must add files one at a time

base a test (with settings) on a previous one

very mouse-oriented GUI, doesn't allow for much keyboard input

simple functions like renaming items or setting properties have been hidden among the more complex functions

forces user to assign course to each user rather than the ability to select all users for the course

Does not allow for code to be submitted or graded by an external program

no ability to select multiple items at once, must repeat process for each item

no file manager for the desktop application, must use browser to access student uploaded files

no download of complete course content
