InterWrite Software is designed for use with an interactive whiteboard,
tablet, or monitor. It has a good set of mark up tools for presentations. It
provides minimal support for student-teacher interaction in the form of
quizzes. Interwrite Software relies on static images as the background for the
markup as opposed to dynamically generated slides. Interwrite Software can be
used as a model for the eClass markup features.
Good Features:
- wide range of annotation tools
(pens, shapes and eraser)
- annotation tools draw over
most applications (Internet Explorer for example)
- smooth transition between
using annotation tools and other software
- annotation tools are hidden
until needed
- Microsoft Office export
functionality
- focus tools (reveal curtain,
zoom, and spotlight)
- thin, unobtrusive, and
customizable toolbar
- save, email, and print lesson
- create new page for
brainstorming
- simple navigation
- handwriting recognition
- quiz functionality to gauge
student comprehension
- image placement
- grid page for graphing
- screen capture
- export to pdf
Bad Features:
- reveal curtain hides
everything from view
- line tool overlaps with the
pen tool in an unintuitive fashion
- some pens are too flashy for
college presentations
- annotations are saved in the
form of screen captures
Missing Features
- no private annotations for
lecturer
- no feature to allow students
to draw on presentation
- no question notification
system
- no dynamic slide generation
- no private annotations for
lecturer
