PDA Integrated Classrooms
Some classrooms currently have each person in the room use a PDA to do all their classroom duties (www.paperlessclassroom.org). Students can take notes, share work, and hand in work all electronically. This system does not require any computers, but rather that each student uses a PDA.
Good Features:
-
Easier to setup and cheaper because it only requires PDA's rather than a network of computers and a server
-
Lecture notes could be loaded onto each person's PDA and allow the user to follow along
-
Good integration with related tools
-
Everything can be uploaded and saved in commonly used formats
Bad Features:
-
Although it is easy to transfer files from one person to another, it is very time consuming and tedious to transfer a file to everyone
-
It is impossible to take notes and read lectures on the PDA at once
-
Less potential options than a full size computer would have
Missing Features:
-
Electronic way to ask questions
-
Attendance feature
-
Auto follow for lectures
-
Communication between multiple users at once
