GradeLog Lite is a free grade book software for teachers. GradeLog claims to
be "intuitive and easy to use," and it appears so at first glance. Many of its
significant features are poorly worded and described, although it has an
attractive excel-like data entry template.
Good Features:
Weighs components and subcomponents
Provides letter and percentage final grades
Provides voice data entry option
Provides ability to curve and define GPAs and letter grades
Provides chart to graph highlighted data
Provides grade anonymity
Provides option to create categories
Provides extra credit
Provides instant grade average of a whole class
Provides first and last name sorting capabilities
Provides email capability to mail out report cards
Provides a default template
Bad Features:
Takes into account assignments that have not been graded yet, thus lowering
final grades until grades are given to all assignments
Has an unappealing, non-intuitive interface
Has misleading, large icons
Has cumbersome grade curving that will only curve for the final grade
Has slow rendering
Can only save it in one type of file
Can only add custom categories after creating a new grade book, not during
the initial process
Missing Features:
Cannot weigh subcomponents differently--all must be the same
Cannot add non-graded categories
Cannot save as a template
No multi-tasking option; only one class at a time may be graded
