Similar to the 'add' button, when the user presses the 'edit' button and a classroom in the 'Classrooms' list is highlighted, as in figure 2.5.2-1,a window appears with data already inserted, as in figure 2.5.2-2. Now the user can change what resources that room may or may not contain. A user can edit the 'Room Size' or any other data fields that window contains. To quickly delete a rooms availability the user can press the 'Clear' button to the left of the time slots. When a user wants to make a room unavailable for the whole quarter, he/she clears all the time slots and keeps the room in the database for future quarters.
Figure 2.5.2-1: The Classroom list appears with a room highlighted ready to edit.
Figure 2.5.2-2: The edit window appears with data already inserted in the fields.
The 'Building #' field contains the existing building number and the 'Room #' field contains the already existing room number. The 'description' field is to briefly describe the room. The 'Room size' field is where the user enters the maximum number of people that the room can allow. The 'Room Resources' field is where the user identifies what resources are in that room. For example, this room is a 'Smart Room', is 'Handicapped' accessible, and a 'Lab', therefore all those resources are highlighted.
The 'Day of Week' field is where you can
identify what days the room
will be available. This field has a dropdown menu with the options of choosing
the whole week 'Mon-Fri' or choosing each day individually like 'Monday',
'Tuesday', Wednesday', 'Thursday', or 'Friday'
(see figure 2.5.1.-3). The 'Starting
Time' field is
where the user identifies when the room is first available. It has a dropdown
menu containing the hours '
To complete an entry and enter it into the classroom
database the user clicks on the 'OK' button at the bottom of the window in
figure 2.5.2-2. The database is then updated and the room is available for future
schedule generation (described in a later section). If the user is unhappy with
the entry of a room the user has the option to cancel the entry by pressing the
'Cancel' button at the bottom of the window in figure 2.5.2-2.
