2.9.1 Creating a New Workspace

Prior to doing any scheduling, the scheduler will have to create a new workspace.  This workspace will most often be created on a shared server so that other schedulers can work on it too.  To create a new workspace the user will select File > New from the menu bar.

When the user does this, they will be giving the option, shown in Figure 2.9.1-2, to have a local copy of all databases.  If the user selects yes, the program will make a copy of the instructor, instructor preferences, courses, classrooms databases.  If the user selects no, the program will create a blank database for each of these.

Once there is a workspace, the user will be able to start creating a schedule or modifying any course, instructor, or classroom information.
