1.5.5. Blackboard Test Manager
Blackboard is an integrated curriculum tool that includes a fairly rudamentary test generator. The program is strong in that it integrates the tests automatically into an environment that contains many other student centered tools, such as a gradebook and e-class tool.
Good Features:
- Test locker
- Generate questions on the fly
- Incorporate questions from a test item bank
- Incorporate questions from a previous test
- Multiple types of questions - calculated formula, either/or, essay, file response, fill-in-the-blank, etc.
- Deploy tests to students on WWW
- Integration with Blackboard Gradebook
- Immediate grading of objective questions
- Graphics that pair with questions
Missing Features:
- Questions from a previous assessment are not added to the test item pool (ie.
If you generate a question on the fly, the only reference to it is in the test)
- No automatic generation of test from specifications
- No tabulation of test item statistics
- No automatic sharing of test item bank with others
- Test item bank is specific to a class section, it must be manually exported to and moved
- No secure test interface
- No built in printing
- No timed tests
