1.2. System Personnel

The personnel involved in the Test Tool project are organized into the following groups and subgroups:

  1. end users
    1. instructor
    2. students
    3. proctor
  2. customers
  3. domain users
  4. outside parties

End users are those who use the Test Tool for its intended purpose. Instructors are professors who use Test Tool to create, release, and grade exams. Students, the largest end user group, use Test Tool to take exams and receive immediately receive feedback on their performance. Proctors are those who use Test Tool to monitor the students who are taking an exam. Professors can be both a proctor and instructor. Ideally, all end users must be registered to be able to use Test Tool features correlating to a certain exam.

The primary customer is Gene Fisher. He is customer representative for his faculty and staff colleagues in the Computer Science department at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In this representative capacity, Fisher will consult with other potential customers to gather requirements from them, and integrate their requirements with his own.

The primary system developer is also Gene Fisher. His development activities are all those of the software development process, from requirements analysis through product implementation and deployment. He will also conduct the ongoing process activities of testing, configuration, documentation, and project management.

Domain users include faculty and students within Cal Poly's Computer Science department. These are the people, whom for the most part, have only used Blackboard's test creation and taking tools. They will provide feedback on design decisions.

Test Tool is available as public domain software for use by outside parties.
