1.5.1. PrimeExam
PrimeExam is a test generation tool with a wide range of
functionality. PrimeExam generates, exports, and prints tests using a
question bank supplied by the user.
Overall, PrimeExam provides an exceptional amount of functionality.
PrimeExam does not have multi-platform support. (Windows only)
Good Features:
- auto-convert function converts old exams into reusable question banks
- easy-to-use wizards for question addition, editing, categorizing, and deleting
- random selection tools intelligently build exams
- highly customizable questions (difficulty level, question group, type, subject, book, and more)
- powerful export functions (can save exams as HTML, MS Word documents, RTF documents, or text documents)
- great question format variety (multiple choice, essay, short answer, true/false)
- special fonts, images, and symbols can be added to questions (similar to functionality expected for our project)
Bad Features:
- strict question formatting (i.e. multiple choice questions have to follow the pattern a.answer1 b.answer2 c.answer3)
- auto-convert function is not very robust (tests have to be strictly formatted for it to work correctly)
Missing Features:
-
an open-source data format
- customizable question formatting (question addition tool)
- doesn't support answers containing code snippets
- doesn't support test grading
- doesn't support test giving (no client/server functionality)
