1.5.7. Adit Testdesk
Adit Testdesk is a suite of tools that allows the user to build and run tests as well as analyze the results. There is also a server edition of this software that allows the user to administrate an exam over a network. Adit Testdesk also allows the user the choice of saving grade results to an XML file for easy organization and review later on.
Overall, Adit Testdesk appears to have good functionality that allows the user a lot of control over how the exam is set up. Unfortunately I was unable to actually create an executable version of a test so I was unable to evaluate the exam taker and the grade reporter features of this suite.
Good Features:
-
Provides many different types of questions for the user to choose from (multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank, etc...)
-
Allows questions that requires drawing (allows only points, lines, circles, and rectangles)
-
Nice WYSWYG editor for editing questions as well as other areas that require textual input from the user.
-
Layout is nicely organize.
-
Gives a lot of control to user over test creation.
Bad Features:
-
Actual test creation for use in the exam taker does not appear to work.
-
Good mainly only for creating tests that will only be taken once - not set up to create a new test re-using questions from previous created tests.
-
The tabs for editing other parts of a question are small and at the bottom of the application - very easily missed.
-
Very confusing to figure out how to create an executable for actually taking the test - documentation proved to be unuseful.
-
Poor documentation/manual
Missing Features:
-
Database support for saving questions/tests/courses.
-
Calculator tool for the test taker would be useful as this software seems to be geared towards math/science test creation.
-
Realtime coding/executio (integrated IDE)
-
Short answer question type option
-
Support for non-Windows platforms
