Dr. Fisher REALLY likes the "Canvas Navigator" idea on managing canvases and layers of the prototyping tool. This is a full-go. In addition to already created scenarios, we need to add the right-click menu option of "properties" to an object in the "Canvas Navigator". This option would expose the properties such as transparent/opaque, etc. We discussed whether the need is present for the protytyping tool to have effects, like those in PowerPoint. These effects would allow, for example, dissolving and flying objects/layers/canvases to occur when viewing the storyboards. Since we could not justify these features right away, Dr. Fisher has recommended to leave "hooks" for the idea to be implemented later in the project lifecycle. Thus, we will incorporate the menu placement and existance, but we will not specify this idea in RSL. Thus, our screenshots will show where this feature will be accessible, it just won't be specified or implemented this quarter. We discussed the "Whiteboard" senior project and how we can use those screenshots to create more scenarios for our prototyping tool. This "Whiteboard" project, in particular, can help show how our project will allow drawing beyond what Visual Basic or C++ could allow without programming.
Finally, both prototyping groups have a better understanding of how we work together - we are almost two entirely separate projects with different agendas. TO DO: 1) Standardize menus (incorporating ideas from last year, year before, and the existing tool) 2) Get scenarios created and online (including Whiteboard scenarios) 3) One scenario should expose every menu 4) Bryon and Rick have decided to meet on Thursday at 1pm in the CSL to collaborate ideas on the above to do list items.
