Minutes of 10/20 meeting -
Location - Graphics Lab of CSL
Present - Randy, Henry, Dr. Fisher

The purpose of this meeting was to get a greater understanding of exactly what the "large-grain" tool is supposed to do, and perhaps more importantly, not do. Dr. Fisher spent a large amount of time explaining what he wants the tool to do, with input and interrogation from R & H. Conculsions/discoveries made during this meeting included: * This tool helps to manage the process when it's done with prototyping being a "master step", rather than just a single step in the middle. It will be able to read and set the pre/post conditions for the other steps in the process, and do so more than once in the course of development. * This tool, for the moment, has NO overlap with the other prototyping tool. * A priority of this tool is "Rapidity" - being able to get a prototype (of any level of complexity) done quickly. It was decided that this could best be accomplished by making a series of "passes" through the process, with each subsequent pass being more stringent. A starting point for the passes and their names (4 total): 1 - Explore, 2 - Firm Up, 3 - Additional Firming Up, 4 - Develop *

The pre/post condition settings for each pass will be archived, allowing a user to display each pass, one pass to a window, on the screen. * The ordering of the Tools menu will look different, owing to the differing process...the order will now be P,R,S,D,I - displayed vertically with P(rototyping) on top. These tools will launch the current pass window, which will break down the process much like Virgil does, allowing the user to set pre/post conditions at the appropriate points in the process. * As this tool is being developed, we may discover/specify requirements for the use of and construction of the other tools. * It was also decided that at least SOME change had to be made in Pass 1 before the user could return "up top" to Configure Process and start Pass 2.
