Had a meeting with Greg Fisher and asked him a number of questions about the
Grader project:
-
Do you want limitations concerning students?
-
What sort of authentication system were you thinking of? (Encryption)
-
Try to avoid a seperate admin layer.
-
Each class should have a file that lists student and teacher's user names
and this file should be used to determine who can access the class
information.
-
Single file for all classes so students can see a list of all of their
classes stored on the server.
-
Do you want an animated bar for determining the weight of assignments? How
exactly do you want this to look like? With a manual entry to enter in the
weights?
-
Manual entry first - animation low priority.
-
What is weight relative to? The total score in the class (10% of class) or
the score of the catagory (10% of homework).
-
Catagories are just assignments with sub-units.
-
What platform should this program run in?
-
What version should a student be able to view?
-
Student version should have different look.
-
Slight differences.
-
Remove features students wouldn't find useful.
-
Email integration? How much?
-
Not much, low priority.
-
Could launch mail program or send form email.
-
Are there any specific formats that you want to be able to save the grade
book as?
-
How many classes' grades should be editable at once?
-
As many as the teacher wants.
Agreed that we would start the next meeting talking about the ability to merge
different sections of the same class.
