ACCELERATED COURSE OPTIONS

1) Credit by Examination - The official university process to challenge a course.

The following two options are available by special arrangement with Dr. Dalbey.

2) "Test Out" - If you have equivalent programming experience in another language, you can qualify to "test out" of this course by bring samples of your previous work to the instructor for approval.  If approved, you can take a 3-hr exam where you write a program using the language you already know. (View Sample). If you pass the exam, you will be given a grade for the course based on the exam grade.  The highest course grade possible is a B. You will be responsible on your own to learn the details of the C language required for subsequent courses.

3) "Independent Study" - If you have equivalent programming experience in another language and would like to proceed at a faster pace than the official class schedule, you may elect to take the course in an independent study mode.  You study the textbook on your own and complete four programming assignments and take the final exam.  There is a fixed schedule of due dates for the assignments.  The average grade you earn on the programs (and final) will be the grade you are assigned for the course (not limited to a B).

If you want to enroll in one of these options you must visit the instructor during office hours by Monday of the second week of classes.
