#1 Customized Project Plan


Each of the five key job assignments on your team is responsible for administering a particular aspect of the project plan.

Manager - Project Plan
QA manager - QA Plan
Test manager - Test Plan
Implementation manager - Integration Plan
Change Control manager - Change Control Plan

1.  Make a copy of the document you are to administer and study it carefully, line by line.  You may find references to textbooks from previous quarters, broken links, and other errors.  You may find vocabulary terms you are not familiar with and need to investigate. Be sure you understand the document thoroughly and can explain it to your teammates.

  1. Customize the plan, modifying and tailoring it for your specific project, team, and circumstances.  The plan may change over the duration of the project, but create a plan that is your best strategy at the moment.
  2. Post the plan on your team web page by the start of class on the Friday of the second week of classes.
  3. It is your job to see that everyone carries out the procedures described in your plan, so you may want to create an action item for everyone to read your plan.

3.  Administer the plan.  Carry out the activities specified, gather the necessary metrics, and report on progress during team meetings.  Modify the plan as necessary to adapt to changing project dynamics.

4.  Evaluate the plan.  As part of your self-evaluation for each release you will evaluate how well you and your teammates succeeded at addressing those issues governed by your plan.  For example, if you are the QA manager, you will evaluate how well your team did at addressing quality issues in your software.
