Software Release Criteria

Fetter has established the following formal criteria that must be met before the software can be released.

    1. At least 90% of planned code is complete.

    2. The slope of the code growth curve for the week prior to release must be less than 50%.

    3. At least 90% of binary miniature milestones are complete.

    4. There are no severity 1 open defects.

    5. The number of defects reported must be at least 80% of predicted.

    6. 75% of all severity 2 reported defects must have been fixed.

    7. In the four days prior to release, the ratio of defects reported to defects fixed must be less than 25%.

    8. The Release Sign-Off form has been signed by all parties.

Release 2 Release Criteria Calculations

1. Complete - We have completed more than the planned amount (actual: 1673, planned: 1565).

2. Complete - During this release, there have been 359 lines of code added. The number of lines added during the week prior to the release totals 127. 127 / 359 = 35%

3. Complete - 100% of our binary miniature milesontes have been completed (for more information view our Integration Plan).

4. Complete - There are no severity 1 open defects. (for more information view our current defect list)

5. Complete - We have reported 36 defects and we predicted (by using the assigned prediction method) 36. Thus, we have reported 100% of predicted. (I know this seems a little fortuitous, but it's because our planned lines of code is about 100 less than our actual lines of code. If I predicted our defects using our actual lines of code, it would be 41 defects. For more information look at our visibility calculations page.)

6. Complete - We have reported 9 severity 2 defects. Of those 9, 7 have been fixed, which is 78%.

7. Complete - In the four days prior to release, 3 defects have been reported while 24 have been fixed. The ratio of defects reported to defects fixed is 13%.

8. Complete - The Release Sign-Off form has been signed by all parties.
