- My best practice is to stay personable with my core officers guiding them in the right direction and helping them whenever they ask for it. Some examples are:
- Editing papers
- Working on writing and speaking skills
- Giving opportunities in networking
- Meeting with the girls one-on-one at least once a quarter over grub or coffee to discuss and find their strengths and weaknesses
- To keep my own sanity, staying organized is key. Learning time management and how to prioritize items is an ongoing process. And practice makes perfect. Sending out emails often (and receiving them more often), you can take note of what looks professional and what does not.
- Talking with other students, faculty, staff, and corporate representatives over and over again makes you realize that they are all people just like us; and when we realize that, a lot of the nervousness and anxiety falls away. Always be open to self-improvement.

- I keep a planner that I basically have on me about 24/7. This allows me to schedule my days and be able to check if I have conflicting times for any activities or upcoming school tasks.
- I also keep a few additional calendars that I use for big date organization. I have an erasable one on my wall that I put major test dates/ parent's birthdays/ major papers on, so when I look at the calendar I know what is coming up.
- Every day I go through my planner and think about the next day, what is due, where I need to be, what I need to get done, and when I'm going to do it.

- When planning a big event, you must be organized but flexible. The event never goes exactly as planned so be prepared to adjust.
- Make a timeline to be sure you are not doing everything last minute. Be sure to have all the campus paperwork out in advance and all the invites so we can get full attendance.
- Get others involved, form committees, so the next generation knows what you are doing and can do a similar event or learn from it.
- When you are running an on campus event make sure you have a copy of the event plan (e-plan) so if anything goes wrong you can prove you are approved to be there.

- In order to keep all officers on the same page, we create an action item list after the minutes of every meeting. This list allows all officers to know what actions they need to preform, lets them know about upcoming events and how ways they can help.
- To keep track of events, we've created an Access program. When the program opens a form pops up then the event coordinator fills out the event name, date, description, total participants, SWE participants, amount organized by SWE, money spent, and strategy. The form data is stored in a table that is exported to Excel to keep track of all our events for the year. This program saves time and paper.

- Xerox all documents before you submit them to ASI or Advancement! This way you have a record for all transactions and can more easily keep track of the account balance. This also helps resolve any errors in ASI accounting.
- Be diligent about logging all account transactions into the Excel spreadsheet that you keep of the account balance.
- Make sure that at least twice a quarter you obtain a copy of the transaction report for your account from ASI so that you can reconcile your Excel spreadsheet with their records. This helps catch hidden charges (including monthly credit card fees for donations made with a corporate credit card, automatic payments for Pony Prints jobs, etc.) that must be deducted from the balance in your spreadsheet.
