Dynamic Modeling in UML

• Two major types of diagrams:

  • Sequence diagrams
  • Collaboration diagrams

• Sequence diagrams show detail over time

  • better for showing detailed time evolution of system but difficult to show “big picture”

• Collaboration diagrams are more appropriate for high level description of how classes work together to provide functionality, but tend to give a more static view

  • Use collaboration diagrams in your final design document
