San Luis Obispo or SLO—the acronym it's commonly referred to by—is a great place for people of all ages to visit. From the historic downtown area, breathtaking hiking and biking trails, and nearby beaches, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

SLO is located in the beautiful central coast about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Founded by the Spanish in 1772, the area is best known nowadays for its scenic coastline, picturesque vineyards, and of course, Cal Poly. The university has a student body of over 20,000, and was founded in 1901. Cal Poly has is the second largest campus in california, at 9,178 acres. Nearby San Luis Obispo are a number of wonderful coastal areas, Pismo and Avila beaches are a great places to go for a family outing. If spending some time in the sand is your goal, the San Luis Obispo area has got you covered!
