This vegan takeout joint is one of our personal favorites. Whether you're a new vegan, have been meat-free for years, or never plan on being vegan, the food here never fails to hit the spot. A healthier alternative to traditional fast food, Ziggy's offers their vegan take on burgers, fries, tacos, and more. Located right off of California, right near Cal Poly campus. Grab a slurpee at 7/11 and head over to Ziggy's to satisfy that hunger. Ziggy's storefront is small but mighty, serving up the best healthy(ish) takeout in Slo. On that note, be warned, there is no seating in it's store, so be prepared to grab and go and grub!
High Street Deli is a San Luis Obispo classic. For almost 100 years High Street Market and Deli has been serving the city of SLO. Built in 1927, High Street Market and Deli carried everything from milk, butter, chewing tobacco and fishing gear. The area was known as the railroad district and housed many of the workers and their families. When High Street was still a dirt road, those workers would stop in to get a pint of milk, cigarettes and a deli sandwich on the way to and from the railroad station. Throughout a century High Street Market and Deli has been a lot of people's corner store but in the recent years, it's become San Luis Obispo's original sandwich joint.Go on Tuesdays or at 4:20pm for a discounted sando!
