1.5.6. CyberMatrix Class Scheduler
The CyberMatrix Class Scheduler allows educational institutions to quickly generate student schedules. It only offers rudimentary scheduling of courses as it does not take into account some of the required preferences.
Good Features:
- Integrates with databases and allows importing of data from other applications (csv)
- Has an easy to understand data manager
- Has multiple formats to save schedules as
- Color codes different “students” in the schedule
- Has a full database view of the data in the application
- Has built in SQL querying
Bad Features:
- Has a very ancient style interface that is not overall visually appealing
- Different datasets/tables are not linked by their relationships in the view
- Provides a strange interface for moving between records for each table. It would be nice if you could
- click a record from the table view and modify it with the custom editor for that table.
- Has student scheduling which is not required
- Allows modifying schedules manually rather than by modifying preferences
Missing Features:
- Only uses a priority value for assigning instructors to classes
- Instructors with higher priority are scheduled first although the utility is hard to discern since there is no way for them to give any other preferences
- No way for instructors to select class preferences
- No way for instructors to select time preferences
