3.1. System Performance

All commands in schedule creation, resource management, and schedule management must execute instantaneously except for the time it takes to generate a schedule. All administrative commands must execute instantaneously except for any delays caused by the network.

Overall, the system performance of the commands in the Scheduler application that require a transmission of data across a network performs as optimally as possible but is subject to potential external network delays that are beyond the control of the application.

The maximum expected sizes of all the Scheduler application databases are up to hundreds of records: Rooms, Instructors, Courses, Overall Schedule Preferences, Schedules, and Users. There are possibly tens of thousands of instructor and student users, but only hundreds of users are expected to be logged in to the system at a given time.

The Scheduler application must accommodate for databases larger than the previously stated expected sizes. But with databases larger than the expected sizes, the application does not need to perform at the expected time performance.
