2.7.1 Desired Grade Prediction

The first method of grade prediction is the desired grade prediction. This option predicts assignment grades required to meet a certain goal for the final grade. When the user clicks the "Set Desired Grade" button at the bottom of the screen, the final grade will become editable for the user to enter their desired grade. Invalid values entered by the user will become red and no calculations will be made. This can be seen in Figure 1.

Figure 1: Entering Invalid Values for Desired Grade

In a case where a valid grade is entered, the value becomes green before doing any predictions to indicate that the value is valid. Figure 2 shows a valid value entered.

Figure 2: Setting Desired Grade

In the above example, the user has set a desired grade in their overall grade row. Once the user has finished entering a value into the table and clicks out of the box or presses enter, the system will fill empty grades with the minimum required grades necessary to achieve the desired final grade, if possible. Figure 3 displays the table after the user has entered the desired grade and the rest of the grades are calculated.
