Introducing eClass to CalPoly's class presentation methods will have the following positive benefits:

• Students will experience increased productivity through the ability to take notes interactively with the actual lecture material
• An eClass environment would allow a teacher to interact more with the students in terms of in-lecture questions, because the teacher could review every student's answer to the question
• The teacher will better be able to prepare slide material for class by using the e-Classroom software to eliminate redundant work
• There is opportunity to decrease the school's paper usage by lessing the necessity of having printed materials and written notes, especially if the system integrates into the students' school accounts.

• Some students may find the system distracting and lose focus on the actual lecture itself. Also, students might consider lecture optional and hamper their acedemic progress by not attending class.
• Having a tablet computer and the associated wiring on every desk might hinder traditional note-taking.
• Students may be concerned with privacy issues. Depending on the implementation, some students may find the thought that the teacher can read and review their personal notes and illustrations to be an invasion of privacy. It could be felt as being equivalent to having the teacher stare over your shoulder for the entire duration of the class.
• Depending on implementation, the e-Classroom could be viewed as yet another piece of software that needs to be maintained by the teacher, and thus might not have the positive benefits for the teacher listed above.
• Power consumption could be an issue, especially if this system sees school-wide deployment.
• Maintenance on the system (including the hardware interfaces) may be an additional burden for the computer maintenance staff, especially with the installation of pre-configured classrooms.
