1.5.5. WiZiQ
WiZiQ is an electric classroom catering to students and teachers wishing to work from their homes. WiZiQ is more of a service than a software package since the flash-based software is hosted on remote servers on the internet. Users simply register, sign in, and create or join an electric classroom through a web browser without the need to install software on their computers. The software itself consists of an HTML page embedded with a flash (.swf) object. This flash object contains all the functionality of the classroom. It allows full interaction between the students and teacher through a live chat room complemented by audio streaming. The teacher controls one or more white boards and may draw with a freeform paintbrush tool, create straight lines, insert text, and import pdf, powerpoint, and other presentation-like files.
Overall, WiZiQ fulfills all the most basic necessities of an electric classroom user. It provides a medium for interaction between teacher and students and pushes the technological limits using both audial and visual communication.
