1.3 Operational Setting
There is a specific operational setting for Easy Grader, which can be divided
into two major categories: (1) the organizational setting, and (2) the physical computer setting.
Under the organizational setting, Easy Grader has been specifically created for use by
the Cal Poly computer science department in maintaining grade books on a regular basis.
In addition, other departments on the Cal Poly campus may be interested in Easy Grader
for the same purpose. Finally, other educational institutions may also be interested.
Under the physical computer setting, there are five classes of computers that will run or
interact with the Easy Grader System:
- instructor computers, which will run Easy Grader
and allow all operations as specified by these requirements;
- teacher assistant computers, which will run Easy Grader
and allow all operations except those which modify the structure of a class;
- student computers, which will run Easy Grader
and allow all operations except those which modify the structure of a class
and those which interact with the following;
- the computer science department server, which provides the central database of
classes, instructors, and grade books;
- the Cal Poly Student Information Services server, which will receive instructions
from Easy Grader for downloading class rosters and uploading student grades.
