Users authenticate with their username and password when a class is opened and the Grader verifies that the given user is approved to open the class. This prevents non-authorized users from viewing or modifying the gradebook. If an instructor opens a class, full functionality is provided. A teacher's assistant, however, is only given limited functionality.
