1.5.5. WebQuiz XP
WebQuiz XP is a web-based quiz, test, and assesment tool that focuses on ease of use. It is made by an Italian comany names SmartLite Software. It seems like a very well-rounded set of sftware but is still lacking in some areas that our Test Tool will improve upon.
Good Features:
- Cross-platform test taking
- Cross-platform test proctoring
- Allows all common quesiton types
- Allows HTML in question bodys (i.e. for images and links)
- Scoring of questions is flexible
- Question scoring is flexible
- User interface is excellent
- Ability to export test for printing
- Flexible test taking views
- Can require a UserID and Password
- Can monitor student's progress during test
- Automatic grading at end of test
- Test answers and scores can be exported
Bad Features:
- Can only use Windows to create tests
- E-mailing of scores in plaintext is insecure
- Web-based test-taking only
- Requires a dedicated web-server to host tests

Missing Features:
- No ability to manage question databases for later re-use of questions
- No contextual information for questions (difficulty, estimated time to answer, keywords)
- Can only build tests by entering all the questions manually, can't choose questions from other tests
- Can't randomize question order for each test
- Can't alert students to errors in the questions during test (at least on-line)
- No way to see what questions you have and haven't answered during a test
- No ability to limit time to take test
- Teacher can't adjust scores or make notes on student's tests
- Can't call an outside program/script to evaluate the answer to a question
