1.3. Operational Setting

The Test Tool software has a specific operational setting, which is the Cal Poly Computer Science Department.  The database sharing portion of this tool is intended to allow CSC professors such as Gene Fisher to use other professor’s question databases for a specific class. A second alternative setting for the Test Tool software is the Cal Poly University.  Thirdly, the Test Tool software can be used at any University or educational facility that can make reasonable use of this software.

This software allows professors to easily create tests using question databases locally or shared with other professors.  It is also a tool for teachers to proctor their tests in a classroom environment to their students in a designated room.  In order for a room to suitable for proctoring with this software, there must be locally controlled and networked computers for each student taking a test.  Local machines, such as Gene Fisher’s laptop, a local computer, are needed for the professor’s test creation.  In order for the feature of a shared question database between features to be possible, a network host must hold the databases for access to the professors.
