My name is Paris Kalathas and I'm an Assistant Professor at Cal Poly. I'm Greek-Cypriot from the small
island of Cyprus. My native language is Greek, but in Cyprus we changed it a bit into what we call
Cyprus dialect.

I got my Bachelor's in Music Technology and Acoustics Engineering in Crete, and my adventure in the
US started in 2014 when I came to get a Masters in CS, which let me to continue for a Ph.D.
My research is in CS Education and I added Agentic Design to that since I joined Cal Poly. If you are
interested in learning more about CS Education or Agentic Design and how you can get involved, contact
me and let's have a discussion about it!

My hobbies include being outdoors, hiking, running, cycling, skiing, fishing, DIYing, and fixing things in
general. I'm adding, removing and modifying this list as time goes by and as I change places that I live :)
Also, I like to make sourdough bread, and lately, I started playing golf and pickleball.

I'm interested in CS Education for K-12 and higher education.
This includes creating curricula and frameworks for in-service and pre-service teacher preparation for teaching CS.
Also, I like creating K-12 interdisciplinary computer science curricula and educational tools,
so teachers and students get to know how CS is related with their(other) fields of study.

Another field that caught my attention since I joined Cal Poly is the field of AI and Agentic Design.
Agentic Design takes advantage of AI APIs to create tools that can be adaptable to specific contexts.
We actively try to find ways to incorporate AI into education so students can interact with it
and get support tailored to their needs

If you are interested in CS education or Agentic Design, I’m open for discussion and collaboration.
Please contact me to schedule a meeting and exchange ideas!
