1.5.1 ExamView® Assessment Suite V8

ExamView® Assessment Suite V8 is a software suite that uses several different applications to generate, administer, and record tests and individual student results. ExamView&reg has several of the customer’s desired key features, including: test storage; automated test generation; test modification; and test administration using a LAN or online connection. Overall, ExamView® provides excellent question generation and storage, as well as simple test generation; however, it lacks many of the question and test customization features required by the customers.

The following are some of the notable features of ExamView®:

Good Features

• excellent question generation options, including question customization and question type range
• add/modify/delete questions
• question banks diverse, stored, and customizable
• assignment variety (Benchmark, Exam, Homework, pop quiz, quiz, test)
• tests are administered over network, on paper, or over internet
• textbook integration with state standards
• bilingual test develop
• ability to customize point value of questions
• formatting tests in one or two columns to save space
• simple, effective UI
• community integration
• drag and drop question rearrangement
• test player allows customized subset of questions per student
• go to button on tests allows jumping to questions
• question selector tells type of question and number available to select

Bad Features

• banks stored and can be opened using trial software
• banks/tests stored with answers
• essay and short answer questions require answers, no option to leave blank
• no cross-platform compatibility
• randomizing questions by type eliminates helpful headers that explain question type

Missing Features

• missing automated script grading
• no way to sort questions based on time
• missing last used feature
• question replace feature is not automatic
• missing automated point breakdown
• unable to search/specify keyword
• no clock
