1.5.5 Moodle

Moodle is a suite of course management software that includes a test creations tool. This allows the tool to be tightly integrated with other Moodle services, such as rosters, grading, and student/teacher user accounts. Moodle is also an open-source project, allowing users to modify it to their own needs, but if one is looking for a simple test creation tool, it is a bit overkill.

Good Features:

• Integrated with Moodle suite of CMS
• Supports import from Blackboard and other sources
• Questions can be exported as XML
• Scores can be exported as multiple document formats
• Supports many kinds of questions
• Test can be locked down to a certain set of IP addresses
• Supports exam times

Bad Features:

• Test creation screen is bulky and difficult to navigate
• Question creation screen is incredibly complex
• If no questions can be generated, you must delete the test and create another one
• UI is slow

Missing Features:

• Test results cannot be sent to students through the system
• Cannot automatically generate a full test
