1.4. Impacts
The Grader tool positively impacts a teacher's ability to analyze class data and
control the curve of the class. Rather than changing student scores or grades
by hand, a teacher can use the Grader tool to manipulate every section in a
course as he or she sees fit. To summarize the rest of the positive impacts:
- Makes a teacher's job easier when it comes to analyzing grades and class
progress.
- Gives teachers control over their class structure without the burden of
tracking it all by hand.
- Gives students nearly all the features a teacher has, letting them see the
impact of assignments on their grade.
- Hides little information from students and a teachers.
However, it is possible that the Grader tool will negatively impact end-users.
Teachers adopting our tool over their old systems will have to spend time
learning the different aspects of the Grader tool to get the functionality
they're used to. Furthermore an error in implementation or specification can
lead to insecure access of private data.
For more general negative impacts, users may not trust the reliability of a tool
built by students over two quarters. However, outside of minor subjective
concerns, there are major general negative impacts.
