1.4. Impacts

The positive potential impacts of the Grade Manager as a functioning system are increased convenience and efficiency in maintaining a gradebook. Some examples of positive impacts include:

  1. Highly customizable grading functionality

  2. Additional information for students to understand and predict their grades

  3. Visualizations of grades for both reporting and curves

  4. Increased productivity

Potential negative impacts include those common to any user-oriented software system. If the system is poorly designed and implemented, it can be inconvenient to use and decrease user productivity rather than increase it. In addition privacy, reliability, and data integrity are areas for potential negative impacts. If the system implementation is not secure, it may reveal private information about students and their grades. It could also be vulnerable to attack by students.
