If the instructor wants to change the size of the Display window or the size or style of the Fonts displayed on screen, EClass provides functionality to accomplish this task. Only instructors can modify these properties in this version, extending the functionality to students will be found in later versions.

To change these settings, select Adjust Display from the Settings menu option. This option is greyed out for everyone except for the instructor. Figure 2.3.4a displays the opened adjust menu.

Changing Display Window Size

To change the Display Window size, options are available to change the width and height of the window. After opening the Adjust Display menu dialog, focus on the group of controls on the left half of the dialog. Both the width and the height are entered in printer point units and default to a width of 450 points and a height of 350 points. In this scenario the instructor will change the width and height to 300 points. To do this all the instructor does is change the values in the width and height text boxes and then presses the Apply button, as in Figure 2.3.4b.

After changing the window size the display window will automatically adjust to this new size. For window sizes larger than the default the display window will grow to fit this new size. For window sizes smaller than the default the display area will shrink and center itself inside the window, seen in Figure 2.3.4d. If the presentation is in slide mode the slide breaks will also be recomputed, based on how many topics can fit within the new bounds.

Changing Font Details

To change the font or the font size, the user uses the controls provided on the right side of the Adjust Display dialog. In this scenario the user wants to change the font to Courier New. The user selects the desired font from the list, in this case Courier New, and then presses the Apply button. All of the Topics will automatically adjust to this font, changing the slide bounds if necessary. Figure 2.3.4e displays an opened Adjust Display dialog and Figure 2.3.4f displays the result of changing the font to Courier New.
