During lecture, the instructor can view the status of each student enrolled in the course and guests (if present) through Roster. In both the instructor view and student view of the Roster, students are displayed on the Roster status list according to their login statuses. In Figure 2.3.3a, the instructor view of the Roster is shown. There are three default statuses in Roster, they are

When students have questions in class, they can notify the instructor using the Roster. The instructor is notified that a question is raised by the student's 'Question Queue Status Indicator' under the 'Question Queue Column' that appears beside the student name. The 'Question Queue Column' icon is shown in Figure 2.3.3b. The details of student questions are mentioned in later section of the requirements in Section 2.6.2.
When students are assigned into groups, the instructor can keep track of which student belongs to which group(s) by the student's contact card. A contact card appears when the cursor is pointed to the student name. Each student has a contact card which contains information of the student. Details of the contact card is described in Section 2.5.1 Roster Overview. Details of assigning student groups is discussed in Section 2.6.3.2 Chatting With a Group of Students.
